The Basic Concept of Chinese Medicine is That a Life Force Flows Through the Body

CHINATraditional Chinese medicine has thousands of years and has changed little over the centuries. As a system of comprehensive health care, the basic concept of Chinese medicine is that a life force flows through the body (also called Qi). Any imbalance in this force can cause disease and illness, according to Chinese medicine. The imbalance, in turn, is caused by an imbalance in the opposite and complementary forces that constitute the life force, called Yin and Yang.

In traditional Chinese medicine there are many ways to improve the balance of the body’s energy flows. The most common techniques used in the western world are exercise techniques such as Qigong or Tai Chi, acupuncture and herbs.
